Album #45 – A Girl Called Dusty

Album #45

This album was a great showcase of the vocal talents of the legendary Dusty Springfield. Many of the tracks on this album are very familiar. Her voice is so sweet yet so soulful on this album. The tracks are the same. The Breakaways provide very soulful vocals and in some cases they are more soulful than Springfield. But, Springfield was one of the first female performers to become part of the British Invasion. She even recommended to Atlantic Records to sign Led Zeppelin in 1969 because she knew bassist John Paul Jones through his session work. They took her advise. Dusty is a strong female performer who really captivated her audience. Her hits are still known today and many of them are on this album. Highlights include: Mama Said, You Don’t Own Me, Mockingbird, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, Wishin’ and Hopin’ and I Only Want To Be With You. Overall, I give this album 4 out of 5 stars.

Next: England’s Newest Hitmakers (a.k.a. The Rolling Stones) from the one and only ROLLING STONES!!!
