Album #88 – Disraeli Gears

Album #88 Cover #1

Album #88 Cover #2

What can I say about this album that had not already been said? Not much. Clapton had arrived and this album was his coronation!!! Almost every track on this album is good and psychedelic and bluesy. Mother’s Lament and Blue Condition are meant for a good laugh. Of course, this album is Cream’s most accessible and features their biggest hit, Sunshine of Your Love. That song is one of the best songs to come out of the late 60’s. It embodies the Summer of Love and the way music was going at that time. The album also features Jack Bruce’s big, powerful voice on many of the tracks. They did so much to prove that the power trio could work in rock and roll. This album proves it. While their first album, Fresh Cream, has some standout tracks and lays the seeds; this album is more special and magical. Other highlights include: Strange Brew, Tales of Brave Ulysses, SWABLR, Outside Woman Blues, Take It Back, We’re Going Wrong and Dance The Night Away. Overall, I give this album 5 out of 5.

Next: The Piper at the Gates of Dawn by Pink Floyd
