Album #105 – Axis: Bold as Love

Album #105

This album continues the winning streak and tone that Hendrix and The Experience set on Are You Experienced? The songs on this album are all under six minutes but Hendrix definitely still rocks. The most well known song off this album is Little Wing which has been brilliantly covered by Derek & The Dominos and as an instrumental by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. But, there are many other awesome songs too including: Wait Until Tomorrow, You Got Me Floatin’, Bold As Love, One Rainy Wish, Castles Made Of Sand, If 6 Was 9 and Little Miss Lover. All of these songs are worth their weight in gold. This album also sounds great on CD and the CD version of this album is vastly superior to the CD version of Are You Experienced? If there was one track that I could get rid of off this album, it is EXP. The track features a high-pitched, chipmunk Noel Redding playing a DJ introducing a low-sounding Hendrix with a random guitar solo at the end. The track has no place on this album. Other than EXP, the album is perfect and flawless. Overall, I give this album 4.5 out of 5.
