Album #204 – The Madcap Laughs

Album #204

This album was a bit different than I expected. Syd Barrett is his old self on this record. He sounds like he is going insane at times. But, the album is very folky too. What surprised me the most is that the album was released on Pink Floyd’s record label and David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Richard Wright and members of Soft Machine all  played on this album. I thought that the members of Pink Floyd wanted nothing to do with Barrett’s solo albums. I was wrong. Some of the songs off this album are very good including Octopus while others are just plain manic. I really liked this album and it was much better than I thought. Barrett reminds me of a manic Nick Drake on some of the album’s tracks. I do not have much else to say but if you are really into Pink Floyd pre-Dark Side of the Moon, you should check this album out. Overall, I give this album 4 out of 5.

Next: Aqualung by Jethro Tull!!!
