Album #216 – Imagine

Album #216

This is my favorite John Lennon solo album. It is not as emotional as Plastic Ono Band and some of the songs are duds, but the songs on here that I do like are some of the best Lennon has ever written, in my opinion. How?, Oh My Love, Imagine and Jealous Guy are all beautiful. I also really like Oh Yoko, I Don’t Want To Be A Soldier, Gimme Some Truth, How Do You Sleep? and Crippled Inside. The other tracks are average at best. This album was recorded at Lennon’s house in Ascot, England. There is a great documentary that captures the making of this album. It was shot entirely on film and was not released until 1998. Parts of that film were also used in the film John Lennon: Imagine released in 1988. Phil Spector and Yoko seemed to have as much control as John. I do not have anything else to say about this album but I really enjoyed it and it is one of Lennon’s best solo albums, in my opinon. Overall, I give this album 4.5 out of 5.
