Album #222 – Coat of Many Colors

Album #222

This album was pretty good. Dolly Parton is one of those artists that people either really like or cannot stand. I like Dolly Parton. She has an vibrant personality and she has been very smart in choosing what she decides to do in her long career. All the songs on this album are written either by the late Porter Wagoner (Parton’s mentor and the man who introduced her to television audiences on his variety show) or Parton herself. I found this to be cool and very interesting. This album’s title track is one of Parton’s signature songs. Parton has even said it is her favorite. It is a very autobiographical song, describing Parton’s childhood. This song started to make Parton a huge name in country. Her star would continue to rise over the next several decades. She is still one of the biggest names in country music today. The rest of the album was alright. The album’s other songs are your standard country songs about love and heartbreak. I did enjoy this album and it proves that Parton can write good country songs. Overall, I give this album 4 out of 5.
