Album #234 – A Nod Is as Good as a Wink….. to a Blind Horse

Album #234

This album was great and just what I expected it to be. It was released during the greatest part of Rod Stewart’s solo career. While Stewart was doing his solo albums, he was also recording and touring with the Faces and they even played on his solo albums. All of the Faces four studio albums seem to be amazing and this one is no exception. This album features the Faces biggest hit, Stay With Me. It also has a mixture of blusey, funky rock and mellow, acoustic-driven songs. The lead vocals are shared by bassist Ronnie Lane and Stewart. Lane’s voice is the stark opposite of Stewart’s. It is very raw and unpolished but, it does match the nature of this band. Ron Wood (currently with The Rolling Stones) plays lead guitar on this album. Overall, it was a very good album with very few dull tracks. I give this album 4 out of 5.
