Album #238 – Nilsson Schmilsson

Album #238

Harry Nilsson is phenomenal. After listening to this album, I can see why so many people love the music this man made. Except for Gotta Get Up, every track on this album was amazing!!! And even Gotta Get Up was not that bad. Nilsson sings differently on each track and he captures the wide range of his voice. He used many session musicians on this album including: Jim Gordon, Jim Keltner, Herbie Flowers, Klaus Voormann and Gary Wright, just to name a few. The songs range from emotional (Without You) to funny (Coconut) to rocking (Jump Into The Fire) to mellow (The Moonbeam Song). The production is amazing and not too over the top. Nilsson’s original songs are well written and catchy. The guy can also sing and use his emotions effectively. He does not over sing. This is something missing from vocal pop music today. The album is flawless and I will definitely be checking out more of Nilsson’s work. Overall, I give this album 5 out of 5.
