Album #240 – Hunky Dory

Album #240

This is David Bowie’s breakthrough album. Yes, Space Odditty (released in 1969) was his first hit but, in terms of albums, this album starts off an amazing streak of amazing albums by The Thin White Duke himself. Life On Mars? is my favourite Bowie song and it is on this album along with Bowie’s second chart hit, Changes. Some amazing album tracks include: Queen Bitch, Kooks and Song For Bob Dylan. Mick Ronson’s guitar playing is amazing on here and Bowie takes the glam rock sound. Without Bowie, T. Rex and Mott the Hoople glam rock would be just a wimper and not a force in rock music. I really enjoyed the album and it is a great starting point to get into Bowie. By the end of the 1970’s, Bowie sound would have evolved several times. Overall, I give this album 5 out of 5.
