Album #261 – Greetings from L.A.

Album #261

The last Tim Buckley album that was on the list, Goodbye and Hello, was alright. But, this album blows it out of the water. It was very upbeat, funky and jazzy compared to Goodbye and Hello. I was pleasantly surprised. Each song was amazing and well written. Buckley added female backing singers which made this album much more soulful than his previous work. Sadly, this album did not sell well and it is a shame because I think this is probably Buckley’s most accessible and mainstream album. It is a shame Buckley never lived to see his work appreciated as well as loved by so many people. I now want to go and discover Buckley’s back catalog after listening to Greetings from L.A. for the first time. This album has given me hope that his albums are not all dull, dry and boring like Goodbye and Hello was. Overall, I give this album 4.5 out of 5.
