Album #267 – The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars

Album #267

This album is David Bowie at his finest. Bowie’s persona at the time, Ziggy Stardust, would influence dozens of glam rock bands and the musicians that came afterward. Each song is as good as the one before it. It can almost be called a concept album describing the journeys that Ziggy Stardust takes during his existence in space. Space and the outer universe was always something that Bowie experimented with. But, nobody ever thought that Bowie would adopt an actual persona and a character. He did for about two years. Each show would have Bowie dressed as Ziggy Stardust. I wish of could have seen those shows just to see how surreal the whole experience was. This album defined Bowie’s career and it is his most well known work. Highlights include: Suffragette City, Rock N’ Roll Suicide, Ziggy Stardust, Five Years and Star Man. All of those highlights are some of my favorite David Bowie songs.  Overall, I give this album 5 out of 5.
