Album #396 – The Man-Machine aka Die Mensch-Maschine

Album #396

Out of all the albums by Kraftwerk that I have listened to so far, I liked this one the best. The Man-Machine was more accessible musically than any of the other Kraftwerk albums on this list. One of this album’s tracks, The Model, ended up going to number 1 on the UK music charts. The sound of this album is a foreshadowing of what is to come musically in the 1980’s. Now I can see why many artists were influenced by Kraftwerk. The sounds on this album are present in the music of Depeche Mode, Yazoo, New Order and many more. The music on this album is less drone and more filled with life.  I really enjoyed this album and I was surprised that Kraftwerk’s latter work is as accessible as it is. Other highlights include: The Robots, Spacelab, Metropolis and The Man-Machine. Overall, I give The Man-Machine, 5 out of 5.
