Album # 478 – Kollaps

Album #478

Today’s album was quite the listening experience. Einsturzende Neubauten are pioneers in industrial rock. They were a German band known for their use of industrial sounds in their music. One can hear screeching, construction sounds and loud, angry singing. The lyrics are all in German and the band is more experimental than accessible. Many would call this art. I can see the group’s influence on future industrial music like Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Skinny Puppy and even Marilyn Manson. But, those groups also brought pop and rock influences to their sound. This is just white noise. I hate to be so hard on this album (no pun intended) but, I just don’t get it. It doesn’t bother me too much though. Nobody can like everything. We all have our preferences of music and everything else. Mine just happens to not be noise-filled experimental industrial post-punk avant garde. Overall, I give Kollaps, 0.5 out of 5.
